Housing Programs

Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) has been a trusted name in housing counseling since 1955.

We are approved by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide counseling, education and advice in housing issues to new and existing homeowners. Our services include:

Mortgage Delinquency and Foreclosure Prevention Counseling

CCCS offers confidential counseling to help you understand your options and how to deal with your situation. No matter if you are just beginning to get behind or are more seriously delinquent, our trained housing counselors can either meet with you in person or by phone. CCCS can help homeowners assess their financial situation, rework budgets and contact lenders, if necessary, to develop a plan to address the mortgage delinquency. There is no charge for these confidential sessions.

Not sure where you stand? Take the “Mortgage Reality Check” Quiz to find out your risk for foreclosure. You owe it to yourself and your family to evaluate your risk and seek help, if necessary.

First Time Homebuyer Education

Purchasing your first home can be an intimidating process. Today, it is more important than ever to be prepared. CCCS housing counselors explain the entire home purchasing process including the companies, individuals and finances involved. Budget reviews help people understand what they can afford. CCCS also reviews the responsibilities of home ownership

Post Purchase Counseling

There are many life-changing events that may make you want to discuss your financial situation with an expert. Changes in income and illness are just some examples. CCCS can help with counseling and advice to deal with these issues and protect your home

Dealing With Rental Issues

Dealing with rental issues can sometimes be a confusing process. Whether you are a first time renter looking for information or someone who is experiencing problems paying their rent, our experienced counselors can help you through these issues.

Reverse Mortgage Counseling

Reverse Mortgages can help people on fixed incomes supplement their retirement income or pay for things like home repairs, prescriptions, and medical care. CCCS’ experienced counselors can provide personal counseling to help you decide if a Reverse Mortgage is right for you. Along with other requirements, all borrowers must be at least 62 years old and live in the home for the majority of the year.

A Reverse Mortgage counseling session has a fee of $125 that is paid at the time of counseling. The counseling fee can be waived if the client's income is under 150% of the federal poverty level or a hardship exists that prevents the client from paying the fee.  For more details, call 800-355-2227.
