Counseling in Motion Online Course
To complete your counseling online, Apprisen uses the curriculum Counseling in Motion, BK Edition, developed by the American Center for Credit Education. This web-based counseling session meets all the requirements for pre-filing bankruptcy credit counseling as required by the U.S. Trustees office. Armed with the information from this course, you will be able to analyze your financial situation with the help of a certified financial counselor to determine the best course of action for you. You can finish the entire process from the convenience of your own home and on your own schedule. Before you register and begin Counseling in Motion, you will need to have the following ready:
- Your income and expenses
- Your net worth (assets and liabilities)
- Be prepared to pay the $30 online counseling registration fee
- Education regarding financial management and bankruptcy
- A budget and financial net worth analysis
- Pros and cons of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13
- A review of possible alternatives to bankruptcy
During the course, you will have the opportunity to speak with a Certified Financial Counselor via e-mail, chat or phone. You will discuss factors that caused your financial situation and be able to ask questions. You and your counselor will then together develop a plan to avoid financial problems in the future.
Within a business day of you completing the online course, the certificate of completion and action plan will be available for download.
