Debt Management Program
What is a Debt Management Program (DMP)?
After your initial counseling session, you may decide that a DMP is right for you. This program is designed to help people pay off significant debt. DMPs are widely endorsed by major creditors across the country. When clients enroll in DMP programs, some creditors may:
- Bring accounts current
- Lower interest rates
- Forgive late or over limit fees
How does a DMP work?
When you sign up for a DMP, Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) will act on your behalf with your creditors, working with them to establish a reasonable and mutually acceptable repayment plan. Once your DMP has started, you will be able to make one convenient monthly deposit to us, which we then send to your creditors.
The average DMP client is able to pay off all debts in 48 months.
could a dmp work for you?
If you have credit card, medical bills or other unsecured debt that is hard to manage, a DMP may be the best way to get your finances under control. A CCCS counselor can help you decide.
