The first step in making positive changes is looking at your current financial situation. You can meet with a Certified Financial Counselor in a free, initial counseling session that sets the foundation for identifying what you want to accomplish, including solutions to credit and debt concerns.
You and your counselor will discuss your situation in a confidential setting either in person or on the phone. You will receive an individualized action plan based on your income, expenses, and debts. Your action plan may include ways to increase income or decrease expenses. You may also receive referrals to community resources and ideas to change your lifestyle. The average time spent in the initial session is 60-90 minutes.
Our Debt Management Program (DMP) is often a good solution to help people reduce their debt. During the initial session, you and your counselor will determine if a DMP is appropriate for helping you get on track.
